Hemlock Point is an Appalachian Log Homes cabin built in the vernacular of the Appalachian style. Square logs reminiscent of the Scotch Irish mountain settlers in the 1700′s make you feel as if you have stepped back to an earlier time. Large hemlocks, abundant on this property. Antiques, a claw foot bathtub, natural materials, comfy furniture, quilts, a soapstone fireplace (albeit gas logs), a gun over the mantle, a variety of varmints hung on the wall (bought at auction)…collections to create an atmosphere of make believe. You are a now in the role of mountain settler, cozy up to the fire and set a spell.
The mountain ridge views from this log home are phenomenal. The breezes of refreshing mountain air are exhilarating. Looking out over 7 to 9 ridges (depends on the day) you can imagine how it looked to “first nations” peoples and early settlers seeing it for the first time. Daniel Boone traversed these mountain ranges, living just few miles away on the Yadkin River. You certainly will believe that God was at work in building all the mountain’s glory. Most of the years we have rented out this cabin, our guests have commented on God’s blessings for this space, this mountain, this respite in their lives. Hemlock Point cabin is just about at the center of Leatherwood Mountains Resort, a 5000 acre gated community in southern Wilkes County, NC. Leatherwood Mountains is well known in the horse world for its extensive horse trail system, some of the most rugged in the eastern United States. The views, the trails, the nature, the glory will abide here for all time.
